Making Miss Teacup
Join me in making this lovely 10” art doll, during a 2-day workshop geared at intermediate or adventurous dollmakers who want to experience both the camaraderie of an in-person live workshop as well as learning new dollmaking techniques.

First, let me introduce you to Miss Teacup. She is a lively little thing, and though merely 10” tall, she is packed with personality, movement and never ending requests for clothes, adventures and photoshoots. She is quite the diva!
She was born out of my intention to teach other dollmakers how to needle felt small doll faces, how to create suitable doll hair for these tiny beings and how to joint and design doll patterns with more mobility. We came up with her name because as I was making her, she gladly waited for this or that to be finished, while sitting inside an antique teacup I have in my studio in Canada.
I have taught this workshop 4 times in the last two years and this is the only time I will teach it this year, during the European Waldorf Doll Retreat in Ommen, Netherlands on May 19th and 20th. To attend the event you need to purchase a ticket via this website and then book your spot with me here.
The price of the workshop is $562.65 USD (price includes VAT). If you are a resident of the EU you can contact me privately for a version in euros and payment can be done via bank transfer. This price covers your tuition with me, but it doesn’t cover your materials, accommodation or entrance ticket to EWDOR.
The reason why it doesn’t cover materials is because in order to finish the doll in two mere days, you will need to do a bit of homework on your own. But not to worry, I have created two step-by-step videos for you; the first one on how to make the head and pre-felt it to a state where it’s ready for me to guide you how to firmly felt the facial features during our workshop and the second one on how to pre-sew the body pieces. This will all be done by you at home, so therefore you need the supplies with you. I will send you pdf files with the list of supplies, online suppliers, hair recommendations, clothing options, the doll pattern, etc.
Most dollmakers have everything they need already in their magical cupboards. This doll is quite small so it doesn’t require any significant investment in dollmaking materials or tools.
I have prepared a little video with some behind-the-scenes of these previously taught workshops, so you can take a peek and see the many dolls made from it. You can watch it here.
In this video I am upcycling a beautiful hand-embroidered tablecloth that unfortunately it’s quite damaged, so it will find new lives via many projects in my doll studio.
I am also including some of the lovely words of encouragement from other talented dollmakers who have taken this workshop before.

If you have questions regarding the workshop, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Time is flying by and before I know it, we will all be sitting together overlooking the beautiful river, making dolls and making friends.
I hope to see you there!
