Interested in needle felting doll faces?

If you are frustrated that you don’t know how to build a doll face with felting techniques, or always encounter issues when draping the skin fabric and your sculpting disappearing or looking out of place, then this class is for you.

I created this class for dollmakers with a little bit of experience in using felting needles and making natural fiber art dolls. But if you are a complete beginner it will be very useful because it will teach you good technique from the very start.

This needle felting and sculpting class shows you step-by-step how to build a sturdy doll head, with a built-in spine so you can add a proper neck once you build your doll.

It will teach you to add facial features for more depth to your doll’s faces and potential expression.

Learn doll face sculpting online

The class curriculum is completely online (in English) and you can access it from the comfort of your own home and at your own time. You have access to all the content for a period of one year, so you can make as many doll heads as you see fit.

The class will teach you how to build the head and cover it in fabric, it will not teach you eye embroidery or provide a body pattern.

I will give you guidance regarding the body proportions that this doll head will be suitable for.

Class Content

Below is a list of all the lessons included in this class, which I have created with a lot of mindfulness and respect for the art as well as for your doll making journey.

The introduction consists of a series of short articles, that includes an e-book with class restrictions, best practices and further recommendations.

All lessons are in video form, which you can pause, rewind and watch whenever you want, however many times you want while you are creating your doll, within one year of enrollment.

Each lesson contains a comment area to ask questions as you work on your doll and I will reply to you there.

You have access to the class for an entire year.

After that you will lose access but by then I think you will be a very stable doll face sculptor and will no longer need to reference the class material.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the class includes a body pattern for the doll?

No, it does not. I give you recommendations on patterns to purchase to finish your doll, or you can use your own personal pattern.

Can I sell the doll once I finish needle felting the face via this class?

Yes you can IF you use your own personal pattern, one sale is allowed with some restrictions.

You must state in your doll listing that the head was made using the techniques and instructions taught to you via this class and that you have permission to sell the doll.

You only have permission to sell ONE doll with a head made from this class.

It is my hope that you learn the techniques and skills necessary to build doll faces, and that after this class you work on your own personal style going forward.

If you have questions about this, please feel free to get in touch with me.

How is the class imparted?

The class is imparted via a few written articles and all actual lessons are taught via videos in English.

All these videos have been pre-recorded and you can watch them at home, via computer or mobile.

What materials do I need to take the class?

Basic natural fiber art doll materials, such as stockinette, wool batting, felting needles, knit doll skin fabric, craft threads, long dollmaking needle, sewing needles, sewing machine, etc.

A complete list is provided for you via the PDF in the Welcome section of the class.

Does the class price includes the materials?

No, you must source those on your own.

I give you a complete list of required ingredients as well as a reputable list of online suppliers.

Can I share content from the class privately or in public forums?

No. I hope you understant that it has taken me years of work and personal development to learn needle felting on my own.

I have created this class for you to learn these techniques without you having to spend years poking felting needles in the dark.

Please do not share content shared with you via this class, and if you have someone who can benefit as much as you have from the class, please refer them my way.

I will gladly welcome them into the class and share with them my knowledge.

I also kindly ask that you do not share ‘in progress’ photos of your doll head via social media, as that dilutes the content of my class for future potential students.

Is this class suitable for a complete beginner?

I do not recommend this class for a complete dollmaking beginner because it won’t teach you how to make hair, embroider eyes or stuff and sew a body pattern.

If you are entirely new to dollmaking I highly recommend my beginner pattern Wee Baby Bunny, or if you want to create a full doll that can be dressed I recommend the Little Fig, which will teach you a lot about doll construction, while keeping things still very simple.

If you want to learn both needle felting a face and making an 18” doll body, then you can try your hand at the Big Fig Doll pattern or the Little Penny doll pattern.

Will I be in constant contact with you as I take the class?

Unlike my other online doll classes, I do not provide a private community for this class.

I consider needle felting and doll sculpting to be a very introspective craft journey and so you are welcome to ask me questions via the comment section included in your lessons or via private email.

How can I pay for the class?

You can register by clicking on this pink button:

I only open registration a few times per year, so I can give my students proper and timely answers.

At the moment I do not offer pre-payment or partial payments.
