Hansel and Gretel, Part 7 and 8: Making the Clothes for the Dolls
We are moving along with our Hansel and Gretel series and today I bring you two separate video tutorials on how to make the clothes for these dolls.
Part 7 of our free dollmaking series includes creating the outfit for little Hansel. This outfit consists of a simple raglan sleeve top with very comfy pants.
His top has a very big pocket, so he can bring a big loaf of bread or lots of pebbles to light the way as they head back home.
Of course you are more than welcome, and encouraged, to draft your own patterns to suit your style and personality but if you would like to use the ones I am using you can purchase the PDF with the pattern pieces via this link>>>
You will be using the same pattern pieces to sew the dress for Gretel, except with a few modifications to the top, as well adding a nice wide skirt for her dress.
I am trying to make these tutorials as affordable as possible, so that is why I chose to use the same pattern pieces both for Hansel and Gretel.
Of course, if you are a member of my Patreon channel, the PDFs are already there for you to use. No need to head to the store and buy them. All the pdfs from this series have been shared freely with my patrons.
Now Gretel’s dress deserved a little bit of decoration. I didn’t have enough space to add a pretty pocket, just like Hansel’s, so I decided to add bibbed suspenders using a little piece of vintage ribbon and here is the result:
These two tutorials actually conclude the making of the dolls, but we still have one more item to tackle which is the Gingerbread House tote where they will both travel to their new home.
I will bring you information on that tutorial later this week, but I wanted to come and publish these as the tutorials have been up on YouTube for quite a while.
I hope you have enjoyed this series with me. It was really fun for me to create a set of simpler dolls, mainly because I was envisioning the whole time the fun my little niece will have playing with them.
I consider the information in these tutorials of very high quality. I share a lot of tips and techniques that I have gained over my 12 years of dollmaking.
It is my hope that if you are beginning to make dolls like these, inspired by waldorf dolls, using all natural materials, that you start with a strong foundation.
Perhaps these tutorials will introduce you to the wonderful world of natural fiber art dolls and if you are keen to keep on learning and experimenting with both techniques and designs, then you can visit my store and see what else may tickle your fancy.
I shall come back in a few days to give you some more tips and ideas regarding making the Gingerbread house.
Thank you so much for watching these tutorials and learning by my side.
