Arriety, Winter Adventures Await
Miss Arriety is one of the last custom dolls of 2022. Truth be told, we are not quite sure if we will finish them all this year but we sure as heck are going to try!

Arriety’s Mom had the fortitude to choose this gorgeous hair for her, which I made using Suri Alpaca locks, wefted by myself and turned into a wee wig using dollmaking mohair yarn and a crochet hook. It gives her a very playful look and she looks ready for anything!

Aside her simple round eyes and happy face, there wasn’t much else she requested, so we had almost carte blanche to choose things for Miss Arriety and to let her talk to me as closely as she would like it.
Sometimes the dolls are very particular. I envision things for them and when time comes to sew for them, they throw their arms in the air and postulate and complain.
I have to listen or else, hell breaks lose in the sewing room. I break things, nothing goes my way…it is usually because the doll doesn’t want me to proceed. I have learned this lesson well now.

She chose a creamy cashmere cabled sweater, with turtleneck and ribbed cuffs.
She also wanted fancy trousers, so we used white velvet and gave her big pockets so she can hide many girly things or even candy.
She has quite a few more clothes which I will show you shortly. Arriety wants me to hurry up so she can jump in her box and go home. I guess she is very excited to be with her Mom and meet the rest of her family!
Good thing is she is already finished and all we need to do is take more photos and show her off. Will be back in a day or two to show you the rest of her outfit. I hope you are doing well and enjoying this sudden doll extravaganza.
